#800 new defect

100%+ CPU Usage Over Time In Nicotine

Reported by: isuftin@… Owned by: quinox
Priority: major Milestone: Release 1.3.0
Component: nicotine Version: 1.2.16
Keywords: Cc:

  • Fedora 15
  • 8GB RAM
  • Dual-core AMD CPU
  • Python 2.7.1 (r271:86832, Apr 12 2011, 16:15:16)
  • [GCC 4.6.0 20110331 (Red Hat 4.6.0-2)] on linux2

Typical activity:

  • Go to Buddy List tabs, look for buddies who are either idle or active
  • Get a file listing from a number of people at once
  • Look through buddy files, queue up a number of downloads (average of 10 albums)
  • Go to Downloads tab and check for downloads that have stalled either due to connection issues or megabyte/file limit reached, and retry those

Repeat this about once or twice and the client becomes laggy and eventually unresponsive. Top shows the thread at or above 100% CPU.

I can leave the client to download the files in the queue for a few hours, come back and it eventually becomes useable again until I repeat the above steps.
