#586 new enhancement

Add 'force complete' option to download tab

Reported by: Dempf Owned by: quinox
Priority: major Milestone: Release 1.3.0
Component: nicotine Version: 1.2.14 Win32
Keywords: 100% frozen won't complete Cc:

Description

First of all: I don't know the first thing about programming, so please don't flame me if this idea sounds unfeasible, or if I get anything wrong.

Currently almost every file I download freezes at 99% or 100% and for every file I download I must manually remove the MD5 info from the filename of that file in my incomplete folder. (see bug #507)

Because bug #507 is such a pain the the rear for me, I thought a quick fix (or perhaps a plugin idea) would be to add a button to the download tab to force a particular file to finish downloading and get automatically moved to the completed downloads folder with its original filename.

yeah that's possible, but it would be a bit cumbersome. It's better to fix the original problem:

  1. Since it happens every time at 99 or 100% there's probably something crashing inside n+. Try running it from a terminal and see if any tracktraces pass by
  2. If 1. doesn't help can you pinpoint when it goes wrong? With specific users, with specific files?

Sorry to reply so late. I'm posting with my email to allow notification of future updates, if necessary.

  1. I'm on Windows, so I don't think that running Nicotine from the command line will help much.
  2. I haven't noticed any pattern as to which files complete and which ones don't. It seems fairly random so far. Mostly they don't complete, but occasionally I'll get a block of files from the same user that will complete just fine. I've also noticed that if I cancel one frozen file out of a block of frozen files and redownload that file, the entire block will complete as soon as the one file completes.
