Description
Hello,
I have a USB drive where I share my stuff. The USB drive has power management enabled and it likes to keep the drive turned off when there is no activity. Nicotine+ could use a read-ahead option to cache the file in memory so that it can keep the drive spun down most of the time, while still transferring files.
The option would have a max read-ahead cache parameter, that could default to lets say 3% of the memory on the computer Nicotine+ is running on.

this sound fairly specific (only a few users will benefit from it) and is not entirely straight forward to implement. I see why you would find it useful, but I think this is better handled by something other than n+, specifically your operating system.
Have you examined what your OS can do in this area?
