I can't make alias work under Windows at all, (time) and (hostname) do nothing for me. I do have a hunch why (ver) isn't working for you though... Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect "ver" is a built-in command of the CMD shell and is not a standalone program.

If I search my XP box for "ver.exe" and "ver.com" I find nothing, and when I execute the command in Windows PowerShell? (the future version of CMD) I get the error the command "ver" isn't understood.

How does "time /T" and "hostname" work for you? These are really standalone programs, and work on both CMD and PowerShell?

Replying to anonymous:

No hostname and time /t wont work for me either. is there a space between the pipe and the braket? Like /al proc | (hostname) or /al proc |(hostname)? i tried both anyway.

Is there anybody that has ever managed to get alias working on Windows? Help would be very apreciated.

Cheerio!

  • status changed from new to closed
  • resolution set to wontfix

Nicotine+ has a plugin system now, while it is slighty harder to use than the alias thing it's a lot more powerful. On the SVN there are a few example plugins, and if you need any specific help feel free to ask on the chatroom or open a new ticket for it. Knowing Windows has poor CLI support I'm not going to waste time trying to fix this for now
