Description
The Nicotine+ Guide mentions I have to enter a username/password. It is unclear to me, as a user, what the meaning of those are and what security issues may be involved. When I use test/test, then the application starts, when I use something else like testing/testing, I get "Can not log in, reason: INVALIDPASS". This means that I'm stuck, because I'm not going to use test/test, since it's unclear what exactly that username/password combination is used for and it's not a secure password at all.

what quinox said.the guide can be outdated. writing guides is really boring, so feel free to update the guide and we will put it on the website ;)
it does now tell you what you should do in the preferences window.

you can enter any username/password you like: It is only used to login on the SLSK network. When you use an account name that hasn't been seen before by the server it will be created for you with the password you entered - if you get a "Invalid Pass" error it means the server already has an account by that name. Keep changing it until you can login
