Downloads fail with status "cannot connect"

Reported by: lektuvas Owned by: daelstorm

Component: nicotine Version: 1.2.8

Description

Downloads work for a while and fail after some time (~10min) with status "cannot connect" and error message in the log saying "Can't send the message over the closed connection". Same error happens immediately when I click retry. It starts working again after I restart nicotine but only for a while.

I use nicotine-plus 1.2.9 on windows. I use port forwarding to get direct connections.

This also happens to me, sometimes, if I queue more files, some of them end up with "cannot connect" status and the same log entry (and retry doesn't work, only restart), but all other files finish downloading normally. Also sometimes, when I add new downloads from search, all end up as "cannot connect", but if I immediately restart nicotine (retry or disconnecting/reconnecting doesn't work), they start downloading normally. Also (this might be unrelated, sorry I didn't create new ticket) sometimes, nicotine doesn't start queued downloads although there is no queue (I am the only one downloading) and I have to manually retry each file in queue to download them.

XP SP2, Nicotine 1.2.9 (from source), Python 2.5.1, GTK+ 2.10.14 and pyGTK+ 2.10.6

I can confirm that sometimes queued files do not start automatically but need to be started manually using retry.

obsolete. please file a new ticket if the problem still occurs. also the latest windows exe is far from perfect. hopefully there will be a new windows installer in the (near?) future.
